![]() What could happen is that Cas comes back new and improved - perhaps the Nephilim powers will upgrade him to archangel rank or something - but then the show would have the same deus ex machina problem they’ve always had around these creatures, so I don’t know if it would work. I mean, it would be super interesting to end this series with big promotions all around - Sam as King of Hell, Dean as the new Michael in charge of Heaven, and Cas keeping the balance between realms as a sort of Death, and I’d honestly pay anything to see Dean with wings and Sam with horns or whatever, but I don’t think it’s a likely scenario at this point. So, well, in answer to your question - since the show hasn’t gone there in two years, I doubt they’ll do it now. A being older than God, gone, just like that - and we’ve seen how directionless other ‘monsters’ can be without guidance, but Reapers - apparently, they all kept doing their job and the only thing that changed was Billie taking over the Winchesters’ file. ![]() It think it was sort of implied that the other Horsemen were take ‘em or leave ‘em, scroungers without a real job who only appeared on Earth because of the seals breaking, while Death actually did stuff - like supervising the Reapers? And, I don’t know, when Dean killed him, I was expecting some kind of change or weirdness to happen, and I was beyond disappointed when nothing did. Like, I get that they needed to introduce the Horsemen because of all that Apocalypse storyline, but I think it was never explained, exactly, what those creatures were and the consequences, if any, of the Winchesters killing them off. ![]() You know, this Death business has been bothering me for two seasons now.
